About O3 Gallery

O3 Gallery is a unique contemporary art space located in Oxford Castle Quarter that offers the public affordable, original artwork. The gallery is open to the public six days a week throughout the year and has no admission fee. O3 Gallery endeavours to be a friendly and welcoming centre for artistic activity within the historic Oxford Castle site. Achieving this through the delivery of diverse, high quality exhibitions and events related to all aspects of the arts. O3 Gallery exists for the benefit of the local community and visitors to the area.

The O3 Gallery was opened by Her Majesty the Queen in May 2006. The gallery forms part of the old Oxford Prison C-Wing - with high stone walls and blocked-up fireplaces and windows; the O3 Gallery still displays interesting original features from the prison building.

The exhibition space itself is presented as an unusual circular gallery with two sweeping staircases. Fitted with a state of the art lighting and hanging system, flagstone floors and textured stone walls, the Gallery combines contemporary design with the unique heritage of Oxford Prison.
